MOSCOW, February 28. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday ordered greater counterintelligence efforts, saying Western intelligence agencies stepped up their work against Russia.
"It’s necessary to redouble counterintelligence efforts in general," he said at a meeting of top officials of the Federal Security Service, also known as the FSB.
"Western special services have traditionally always covered Russia actively, but now they have mustered up additional human, technical and other resources to use against us," Putin said. "We need to respond appropriately to that."
The president said that "critical information about control systems, military and law enforcement agencies, defense industry enterprises, critical technologies and personal data should be reliably protected." "This fully applies to information about the latest Russian weapons and equipment," Putin said.
He said "it’s necessary to further increase the level of security of the information and digital space of Russia, to identify and suppress attempts to disrupt the work of Russian resources and communications."
