MOSCOW, February 1. /TASS/. The fortunes of Russia's richest businessmen have increased by $16.1 billion since the beginning of this year, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index released on Wednesday.

In particular, since January 1, 2023, head and majority owner of Lukoil Vagit Alekperov has earned $2.5 billion bringing his fortune to $ 17.9 billion. The fortune of the main shareholder of Severstal Alexey Mordashov has grown by $1.54 billion and reached $20.2 billion. The value of the cash assets of these two Russian businessmen is based on an analysis of dividends, insider trading, taxes and market conditions.

Since the beginning of the year, Novatek CEO Leonid Mikhelson has earned $1.12 billion and his fortune now amounts to $12.7 billion. The value of the billionaire's investments and personal assets is based in part on local media reports and figures provided by his press representatives.

In the meantime, the fortune of the former beneficiary of EuroChem Andrey Melnichenko decreased by $443 million to $12.7 billion. After being included on the EU sanctions list on March 9, Melnichenko withdrew from the Board of Directors of EuroChem and from the company’s beneficiaries.

Bloomberg has been publishing its Billionaires Index since March 2012. It includes information about the fortunes of the 500 richest people on the planet. The index’s calculations are mainly based on the value of company shares.
