SANYA /China/, December 15. /TASS/. The government of the southern Chinese province of Hainan and Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences (Germany) have signed an agreement to open this university' campus on the island. This was reported by the Hainan International Communication Network (HICN).
According to HICN, Bielefeld University College of Applied Sciences will be China's first institution of higher education to be fully owned by a foreign entity. It will be located in the Yangpu Economic Development Zone and will begin admitting students in the fall of 2023.
The college campus will occupy 66 hectares. The total area of the buildings will be about 370 thousand square meters. There will be 12 thousand students working to earn a bachelor's degree.
Students will be trained in such areas as electro-mechanical automation technology, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, renewable energy sources, automotive technology, unmanned vehicles, international enterprise management, quality management in production and design.
In August 2020, the Hainan provincial government and Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences signed a strategic cooperation agreement. Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences was founded in 1971. It offers 37 bachelor's and 25 master's degree programs.
