Russian emergencies minister to visit East, West Siberia during his first Russian tour

Alexander Kurenkov was appointed to the post on May 25, becoming Russia’s fourth minister of emergency situations

IRKUTSK, June 22. /TASS/. Russian Emergencies Minister Alexander Kurenkov arrived in the eastern Siberian city of Irkutsk on Wednesday during his first working visit to Russian regions, planning to depart for Yakutsk and Krasnoyarsk next, the ministry’s press service said.

In Irkutsk, located not far from Lake Baikal, the minister met with the region's Governor Igor Kobzev, visited the regional emergencies ministry department and laid wreaths to monuments of soldiers killed in the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945) and of rescuers and firemen, who died while fulfilling their professional duty.

During his visits to Krasnoyarsk and Irkutsk, the minister will also meetings and conferences with governors Alexander Uss and Aisen Nikolayev. He will also meet with heads of his ministry’s regional departments.
