Russian series ‘Eight Angry Women’ enters British festival’s program

The series tells the story of eight women who go to the beauty salon to spill their guts to the hairdresser

MOSCOW, May 5. /TASS/. The pilot episode of the Russian web series ‘Eight Angry Women’ has been included in the program of the London International Web & Shorts Film Festival, the project also became a participant in the Argentine web award, the series’ press service announced on Thursday.

"For me, the inclusion of the series ‘Eight Angry Women’ in the programs of international screenings is insanely pleasant news, and if you consider that I also act as a producer for the first time, I am doubly pleased. Of course, I would like to develop this project, so that later there would be ‘Eight Angry Women 2’ and ‘3’, as well as ‘Eight Angry Women: The Movie’. <...> It's great and surprising that the political situation has not influenced the choice of these international film festivals to include us. Countries should not close themselves off from others, and it is through art, through culture that it is easier to find peaceful solutions", the press service quoted the project director Alexander Sukharev as saying.

The series tells the story of eight women who go to the beauty salon to spill their guts to the hairdresser. Each episode is dedicated to one of the character’s confession. The project is created using the verbatim technique where actors perform real monologues. The co-director and author of the script is actress Anastasia Gorodentseva.

The Web Series Award (BUEIFF Web Series) is a continuation of Argentina's Buenos Aires International Film Festival (BUEIFF), the award ceremony will be held in June. The London International Web & Shorts Film Festival, which has included ‘Eight Angry Women’ in its program, is considered one of the largest reviews of international short film content. It will take place in July.
