NEW YORK, August 15 (Itar-Tass) - New York’s Court of Appeals has denied a motion of Russian pilot Konstantin Yaroshenko, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison in the United States, lawyer Alexei Tarasov told Itar-Tass.

The appeal was lodged in November 2012. In June 2013 the Court of Appeals decided to deny it. After the Russian lawyer demanded the appeal be considered by all members of the Court.

“Today the Court of Appeals has denied the last motion. The sentence has taken effect,” Tarasov said.

At present, Yaroshenko has 90 days to address the U.S. Supreme Court to take up his case, the Russian lawyer said.

The Russian pilot was arrested in Liberia on May 28, 2010 and accused of transporting the big bulk of cocaine. Then he was deported to the United States and sentenced to 20 years in prison. The sentence was rendered on September 7, 2011.
