MOSCOW, August 20. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi will sign an agreement on mutual abolition of visa requirements in Moscow.
Earlier, Jordan’s Council of Ministers decided to approve an agreement with Russia on mutual abolition of visa requirements for tourists from both countries "as part of strengthening bilateral cooperation." The draft agreement was approved by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin in May. The agreement provides for exemption from visa requirements for tourist trips for a period of no more than 30 days, while the total duration of such stay should not exceed 90 days during the year.
The signing of the agreement will "contribute to further increase of humanitarian and tourist exchanges, and the expansion of our business ties with Jordan," the Russian foreign ministry said.
The ministers will also pay special attention to "practical issues of trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation through more complete use of the potential available in these areas," the ministry added. Moreover, an exchange of views is planned "on current aspects of international and regional issues with an emphasis on the need to resolve conflicts and crisis situations in the Middle East by political and diplomatic methods in strict accordance with the principles of the UN Charter and decisions of its Security Council."
Safadi's upcoming visit to Russia "will serve to further strengthen the multifaceted partnership between Russia and Jordan and contribute to the intensification of joint efforts in the interests of ensuring lasting peace and stability in the Middle East," the Russian ministry noted.
