Russia ready for talks with Ukraine without preliminary conditions — Medvedev

Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council said that such talks would make it possible to reach peace

ST. PETERSBURG, May 20. /TASS/. Russia has repeatedly stated its readiness for talks with Ukraine without any preliminary conditions but with due account of realities on the ground, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said.

"Russia has said it more than once that we are ready for talks without preliminary conditions but with due account of realities on the ground and the proposals that have been advanced. And such talks will make it possible to reach peace," he said at the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum.

He stressed that peace should be built on conditions more or less suiting all the parties concerned. "Otherwise, it will be a mere ceasefire that will be used to reinforce the war machine and resume hostilities," he added.
