MOSCOW, May 19. /TASS/. Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said that a phone conversation between Russian President Putin and his US counterpart Donald Trump is scheduled for 5 p.m. Moscow time (2 p.m. GMT).
"At 5 p.m., a phone conversation with Trump will be held," Peskov told journalists.
Earlier, Trump wrote on the Truth Social network that he had a phone conversation with Putin planned at 10 a.m. (5 p.m. Moscow time) on May 19. The US president said that he intended to discuss the Ukrainian settlement and trade issues. Trump added that, following the conversation with a Russian leader, he will speak with Vladimir Zelensky and NATO leaders.
The most recent phone conversation between Putin and Trump was held on March 18.
On May 16, talks were held between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul. Following the meeting, Moscow and Kiev agreed to swap the prisoners of war under a "1,000 for 1,000" formula, present their concept of the potential future ceasefire, outlining it in detail, as well as continue the negotiation process. Russian Presidential Aide Vladimir Medinsky who led the Russian delegation at the Istanbul talks said that the Russian side was satisfied with the negotiations’ outcome.
