LUGANSK, May 19. /TASS/. According to military expert Andrey Marochko, the Ukrainian army sustained approximately 4,200 casualties – including foreign mercenaries – during a week of intense fighting along the borders of the Lugansk People's Republic. Marochko, speaking to TASS, emphasized that the heaviest losses were inflicted by the West battle group.
"In my analysis of the recent week’s operations," Marochko stated, citing the Defense Ministry, "Ukrainian forces in the areas of operation of North, South, and West battle groups suffered around 4,220 casualties. The most significant damage to enemy manpower occurred within the zone of the West group’s responsibility."
He further detailed that during this period, the Russian military also destroyed nine tanks, 77 field artillery pieces, three multiple rocket launchers, two radar systems, 24 electronic and counter-battery warfare stations, as well as 32 depots housing ammunition, fuel, and supplies. Additionally, approximately 250 enemy combat vehicles were neutralized.
