SAMARKAND, April 23. /TASS/. The Russia-Central Asia summit will be held in October on the sidelines of the CIS summit in Dushanbe, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a press conference following his visit to Uzbekistan.
"We talked about plans to strengthen partnership within the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and within the framework of the Central Asian Five plus Russia mechanism, including taking into account the recent meeting on April 11 of foreign ministers of this format in Alma-Ata," the foreign minister said. "One of the main tasks of the meeting of foreign ministers was the preparation of the summit, Russia plus Central Asia, which is scheduled for autumn." The top diplomat specified that it would be held "in October on the sidelines of the CIS summit in Dushanbe."
The first Russia-Central Asia summit was held in October 2022 in Astana.
