MELITOPOL, March 17. /TASS/. Russian troops have begun battling for control of the settlement of Malye Shcherbaki in the Orekhov direction of the Zaporozhye Region, securing the southern part of the village and the southern outskirts of the neighboring settlement of Shcherbaki, Vladimir Rogov, Chairman of the Russian Civic Chamber Commission on Sovereignty, Patriotic Projects, and Support for Veterans, told TASS.

"Near Malye Shcherbaki, our servicemen have secured a large bridgehead and entered the village from the south, just as they previously entered Shcherbaki. Russian troops have secured territories in the southern parts of both settlements and are advancing further north to completely liberate them," the agency's source reported.

Rogov previously told TASS on March 15 that Russian units had reached the outskirts of Shcherbaki in the Zaporozhye Region and had begun fighting to take control of the settlement.
