Operation Pipeline in Kursk Region was similar to maneuver near Avdeyevka — expert

On February 17, 2024, Sergey Shoigu, then the Russian defense minister, informed President Vladimir Putin that the Russian army had secured control of Avdeyevka

MOSCOW, March 11. /TASS/. Operation Pipeline in the Kursk Region, in which Russian commandoes infiltrated the enemy-held territory to launch a surprise attack on Ukrainian forces in Sudzha, resembled a maneuver executed near Avdeyevka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) almost a year ago, military expert Yan Gagin said on the Rossiya-1 TV channel.

"We must commend the professionalism of our soldiers and all those involved, particularly the Veterans Brigade, which possesses immense experience. This operation was akin to the one near Avdeyevka in the DPR, where an underground tunnel was used for the purpose," Gagin explained.

On February 17, 2024, Sergey Shoigu, then the Russian defense minister, informed President Vladimir Putin that the Russian army had secured control of Avdeyevka. The assault on the city commenced after Russian troops walked through an underground technical tunnel, emerging deep within an area held by Ukrainian forces.
