LUGANSK, March 11. /TASS/. The Russian army has driven Ukrainian forces out of two forest belts near the settlement of Novolyubovka in the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) and has secured several positions vacated by the enemy, Andrey Marochko, a military expert, told TASS.

"In the course of intensive operations, the Russian Armed Forces managed to drive Ukrainian forces out of two forest belts north of Novolyubovka. Utilizing the confusion amid the ranks of Ukrainian armed groups following a large-scale attack, Russian troops rushed with fire support from our artillery to the positions abandoned by Ukrainian forces and seized them," he said.

The expert added that Russian forces later destroyed another group of Ukrainian soldiers composed of 12 people sent to aid the enemy troops and unaware of the fact that the segment of the frontline had come under the control of the Russian army.

On February 22, the Battlegroup West liberated the settlement of Novolyubovka.
