Germany does not keep substantive contacts with Russia on Nord Stream case — envoy

"How much longer it will last remains to be seen," Sergey Nechaev noted

BERLIN, December 23. /TASS/. The German authorities do not keep any substantive contacts with the Russian side on the case of blasts at Nord Stream and Nord Stream-2 gas pipelines, Russian Ambassador to Berlin Sergey Nechaev said in an interview with TASS.

"Chancellor Scholz has assessed the blasts at Nord Stream pipelines as a terrorist attack, having required to bring those responsible to justice. However, there has been no progress," he said, adding that the country’s government provides no comments on the situation.

"No substantive contacts on that matter are maintained with the Russian side. How much longer it will last remains to be seen," the diplomat noted.

On September 26, 2022, Nord Stream AG reported unprecedented damage that occurred the day before on three strings of the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 offshore gas pipelines. Swedish seismologists registered two explosions on the pipeline routes. As Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov noted, Moscow had no doubt that the explosion of Nord Stream was carried out with the support of the United States. The Russian Prosecutor General's Office launched a criminal case based on charges of international terrorism.
