Kursk infrastructure to be rebuilt after region liberated — Putin

The President stressed that authorities would also support residents of the Kursk Region who wish to relocate

MOSCOW, December 19. /TASS/. All the infrastructure in the Kursk Region that has been damaged by Ukraine will be rebuilt after the enemy is knocked out of the area, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at his combined press conference and Q&A session.

"After this (after the Ukrainian army is knocked out of the Kursk Region — TASS), it will be possible to assess the damage. But, most importantly, <…> everything will be restored. There is no doubt: we will restore the road network, infrastructure, social facilities, schools, and kindergartens. We will restore housing, of course. Certificates for housing reconstruction will also be issued," the head of state emphasized.

He added that the region’s officials would not take any time off for the New Year, instead prioritizing that local residents' issues are addressed without delay.

"The administration of the Kursk Region will work through the holidays, meeting with people and resolving their problems, including matters related to housing certificates," Putin emphasized.

He assured that all the damaged infrastructure would be fully restored.

"I understand that the situation is very difficult. People are experiencing significant losses, hardships, and inconveniences, especially those affecting children. But rest assured, we will do everything necessary," the Russian leader emphasized. "We will restore everything. Everyone who needs to rebuild their homes will be taken care of, and all their needs will be met."

Putin added that authorities would also support residents of the Kursk Region who wish to relocate.

"We will assist those who want to move to other regions. Approximately 108 billion rubles ($1.7 billion - TASS) have already been allocated for this purpose," he stated. "I know the first funds have already been distributed."

Russia’s borderline Kursk Region came under a massive attack from Ukraine on August 6. A federal state of emergency is in effect in the region. People are being evacuated from border areas.
