Declaring Moscow Patriarchate terror organization not brightest idea — Kremlin

Earlier, Lauri Laanemets said that he intended to propose to the Estonian parliament to recognize the Moscow Patriarchate as a terror organization

MOSCOW, April 12. /TASS/. Estonian Interior Minister Lauri Laanemets’ idea to brand the Moscow Patriarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church as a terrorist organization is asinine, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

"We would not want to think anything about such statements. In any case, this gentleman’s statement can hardly be referred to as the brightest one," the Kremlin official told reporters

Earlier, Laanemets said that he intended to propose to the Estonian parliament to recognize the Moscow Patriarchate as a terror organization. According to him, that did not mean shutting down churches but ties with Moscow would be cut off. That said, the Estonian Orthodox Church asserted that it did not intend to rupture canonical ties with Russia due to their historical relations.
