Russia-DPRK cooperation thwarts Western plans for Korean conflict — diplomat

Maria Zakharova added that the West is doing everything it can to "push the Korean Peninsula into open confrontation"

MOSCOW, April 3. /TASS/. The development of cooperation between Russia and North Korea has got the West all riled up, because it throws a wrench in their plans to destabilize the Korean Peninsula, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.

"We are well aware why our cooperation with North Korea is met with such disapproval from Western countries. They have different plans in regards to the Korean Peninsula," she underscored. "The goal of the West is to make the Korean Peninsula not just an area of destructive developments or an area where stability and security is absent, but to plunge another region into the abyss of conflict. This is their direct goal - of the US, first and foremost."

The spokeswoman added that the West is doing everything it can to "push the Korean Peninsula into open confrontation."

According to Zakharova, Western countries, mainly the US, "exploit South Korea for their horrifying plans" to destabilize the region.

"Apparently, South Korea lacks immunity to protect itself from Washington’s external influence," she concluded.
