Anti-American sentiment rising globally but not because of Russia, intel veteran argues

The absolute lack of any will on the part of the Americans to come up with "effective solutions" for resolving the lethal conflict between the Palestinians and the Israelis is striking, Leonid Reshetnikov emphasized

MOSCOW, March 4. /TASS/. Anti-American sentiment is intensifying globally not because of Russia or China but rather because multiple countries worldwide can clearly see for themselves that Washington is merely going through the motions in an imitation of peacekeeping in the Middle East, retired Lieutenant General Leonid Reshetnikov of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) said.

In an open letter to US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director William Burns, intelligence veteran Reshetnikov said: "The entire Global South and countries outside [the region] are aware and highly critical of the imitative, simulated nature of US peacekeeping efforts [purportedly aimed] at achieving a settlement in the Middle East; so, if I were a CIA analyst, I would not attribute the rising anti-American sentiment around the globe to any ‘underhanded string-pulling’ on the part of Tehran, Moscow or Beijing."

The absolute lack of any will on the part of the Americans to come up with "effective solutions" for resolving the lethal conflict between the Palestinians and the Israelis is striking, Reshetnikov emphasized. "Nobody even mentions a two-state solution. In that case, how can there be any discussion at all about a ‘day after tomorrow’ for the Gaza Strip?" he asked rhetorically. This looks more like a simulation of "active efforts to manage a resolution for the painful issues facing the Middle East," the retired SVR officer maintained. And, while such an imitation of desperately needed real action continues, huge numbers of people are being killed every day in the region, he added in his letter.
