MOSCOW, December 8. /TASS/. Russian troops repulsed two Ukrainian army attacks near the settlement of Kleshcheyevka in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), Russia’s Battlegroup South Spokesman Vadim Astafyev told TASS on Friday.

"Units of the Battlegroup South supported by aircraft, artillery and heavy flamethrower fires repulsed two attacks by assault groups of the Ukrainian army’s 67th mechanized brigade on the positions of our troops near the community of Kleshcheyevka. The enemy’s losses in that direction amounted to 175 personnel killed and wounded," the spokesman specified.

In counter-battery fire, units of the Battlegroup South destroyed six Ukrainian artillery guns, he said.

"In counter-battery warfare, the enemy lost a 155mm M109 Paladin self-propelled artillery system, two 152mm Akatsiya motorized artillery systems, a 122mm 2S1 Gvozdika motorized artillery system, a 122mm D-30 howitzer and a 105mm M119 artillery gun," the spokesman specified.
