Russian snipers destroy Ukrainian saboteurs in south Donetsk area

Russian snipers target both Ukrainian army personnel and unmanned aerial vehicles, including strike drones

DONETSK, December 8. /TASS/. Snipers of Russia’s Battlegroup East destroyed a Ukrainian reconnaissance/subversive group in the south Donetsk area over the past day, a sniper with the call sign Strelok (Shooter) told TASS on Friday.

"We knew where the enemy would move and watched the movements of its subversive groups and its amassment area. At its gathering place, we did our job [destroyed the enemy] and accomplished our objective. The result proved to be even better than expected," the sniper said.

Russian snipers target both Ukrainian army personnel and unmanned aerial vehicles, including strike drones. Snipers accomplish their objectives normally using the Dragunov (SVD) sniper rifle, he specified.

"The SVD is a proven weapon. The range of its effective fire against the enemy is 700-800 meters. I destroyed the target at a range of 1,200 meters but this effort requires certain conditions and skills," the sniper added.

The SVD is the most widespread sniper weapon used for over half a century and has gained world acclaim. Some ergonomic and design solutions incorporated in the SVD are used in the latest sniper weapons.
