ST. PETERSBURG, July 30. /TASS/. Participation of Africa in such multilateral formats as the Group of Twenty will make it possible for the continent to state its interests more clearly and to push through its position, President Vladimir Putin told reporters.
"This will change little in the general economic picture of the world. Nevertheless, the role and the value of growing capabilities of the African continent will be highlighted, and in this sense, certainly, it will be probably simpler for our African partners to declare their interests and, let me say so, to push forward their position," the head of state said, answering a question about changes to take place from Africa’s participation in the mentioned multilateral formats.
Such possibility "matters," the Russian leader added.
Putin said earlier that Russia supports participation of the African Union in activities of multilateral organizations and expects that it will become a full-fledged member of the Group of Twenty as early as in September 2023.
