MOSCOW, March 14. /TASS/. The West is sure to launch a broad smear campaign against the supporters of the International Russophile Movement, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at the movement’s founding congress on Tuesday.
"Just like it was during recent developments in Moldova and Georgia, [the West] will surely say that this is Moscow’s trickery, a scheme aimed at getting people on its side through promises and bribes. It’s not that I don’t rule all that out, I’m sure that such a campaign against our movement will be launched," he noted.
The Russian top diplomat emphasized the importance "of remaining true and committed to the best international traditions of friendship between nations." "Today, a humane attitude towards people all over the globe is more relevant than ever, as well as the need to resist all forms of diktat," he added.
"Everyone is interested in being friends and simply maintaining good-neighborly relations, implementing joint projects for mutual benefit," Lavrov emphasized. "The position that just because you love Russia or even just speak Russian in public places and you should be ostracized for that is absolutely not our values, not our methods," he said.
