NATO’s Asian push risks years of confrontation, Lavrov warns

It is noted that Russia is not trying to prevent anyone from pursuing their legitimate interests

MOSCOW, March 14. /TASS/. The Anglo-Saxons are risking a long confrontation by establishing blocs and deploying NATO’s military infrastructure in Asia, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Tuesday.

"The Anglo-Saxon world is making a serious bid to engage in a confrontation for years to come by establishing AUKUS-like blocs and promoting NATO’s military infrastructure in Asia," Russia’s top diplomat said, addressing the opening of a founding meeting of the International Movement of Russophiles. "For I cannot imagine the great Asian civilizations snapping a salute, as the European Union unfortunately did, and carrying out the plans of Washington and its Anglo-Saxon allies," he added.

"We are not trying to prevent anyone from pursuing their legitimate interests. But when they insist that the entire world should be beholden to, say, the North Atlantic Alliance, and that Asia is already the territory where it (the Alliance - TASS) should control everything, I doubt that the sense of justice that is inherent for the Russian people and the overwhelming majority of all global civilizations should not make itself heard," Lavrov underscored.
