Russia won't allow Nord Stream situation to be covered up — Lavrov

It was stressed that China, together with Russia, had sought at the G20 meeting to include a paragraph on Nord Streams in the final declaration

NEW DELHI, March 2. /TASS/. Russia will continue to seek an investigation into the explosions at Nord Stream, and will not allow it to be covered up, as the West has done repeatedly, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a press conference following a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the G20 in New Delhi.

The Russian Foreign Minister stressed that China, together with Russia, had sought at the G20 meeting to include a paragraph on Nord Streams in the final declaration.

"As for the Nord Streams - indeed, together with us, the People’s Republic of China spoke for the inclusion of the relevant paragraph in the declaration, which, as you know, did not happen. Basically, it was China and us [Russia] that were trying to make it happen. Most of the developing G20 participants expressed their understanding and willingness to agree to include such a provision in the declaration. But do you remember how the West reacted to the revelations published by Seymour Hersh? It was a nervous reaction and immediately after the publication of these revelations, there were expressions like "nonsense" and "we are not even going to discuss it." In my opinion, everything is clear, but we're going to push for this investigation, we will not let them cover things up, as the West has done repeatedly," he said.

Lavrov recalled that the British took the same position on the incident in Salisbury - they refused to provide Russia with test results and other information Moscow had repeatedly officially requested in accordance with the requirements of the relevant international conventions.

The Russian Foreign Minister stressed that the West does not want to respond to questions that "reveal its provocative nature and actions."

"A fresh example is the so-called incident in Bucha. At the very beginning of April, right after we agreed with the Ukrainians on the basis of their proposals to prepare a settlement document. Two days later there was an incident in Bucha, which our Western colleagues also do not like to talk about. Let me remind you that back in September of last year at a meeting of the UN Security Council, in response to unfounded accusations, I touched upon this topic in my speech, saying that our numerous requests for information about this incident were ignored. At a meeting of the Security Council, in the presence of all ministers, I turned to the UN Secretary General with a request to help at least get a list of those persons whose bodies were shown in this suburb of Kiev. To this day, no one has even attempted to respond," Lavrov said.
