Russian, Algerian presidents agree on May meeting in Russia

The sides also touched upon "bilateral relations between the two countries, and prospects for energy cooperation"

RABAT, January 31. /TASS/. President of Algeria Abdelmadjid Tebboune on Tuesday had a phone call with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, in which the two sides agreed he would visit Russia in May, the office of the Algerian president said.

"The presidents discussed the upcoming meeting of the joint [intergovernmental] Russian-Algerian commission and agreed on a state visit the [Algerian] president will pay to Russia in May," it said.

Apart from that, the sides also touched upon "bilateral relations between the two countries, and prospects for energy cooperation."

The Kremlin press service said earlier that the two presidents agreed to establish closer ties at various levels and speed up the work on major documents. They also reiterated their "readiness for further joint work on global energy markets, including in the OPEC+ format and within the Gas Exporting Countries Forum." The leaders also agreed that "Russian-Algerian cooperation, which is based on the long traditions of friendship and mutual respect, continues to develop progressively," the Kremlin added.
