MOSCOW, October 26. /TASS/. The level of political trust between Beijing and Moscow is higher than ever, China’s Charge d'Affaires to Russia Sun Weidong said at a conference on Russian-Chinese relations hosted by the Economist House on Wednesday.
"Chinese-Russian relations have moved into a new era of very rapid development over the past ten years. In this epoch of comprehensive strategic cooperation and partnership, we managed to not only maintain a high level [of cooperation] under the guidance of our heads of state but also to deepen it. The level of political trust between our countries is higher than ever," he pointed out.
The diplomat noted that Beijing and Moscow "persistently boosted" economic and trade interaction in the reported period. "In addition, [our] cultural exchanges also intensified a lot," he went on to say. "Our countries have always supported each other on numerous issues related to their interests, closely cooperating on the international stage. Russia has advocated China’s positions on a number of issues related to Taiwan, Hong Kong and Xinjiang. China, in turn, has objectively and impartially assessed the problems that Russia is currently facing with regard to Ukraine. China is deeply critical of the West’s unilateral policy and hegemonic ambitions, emphasizing that it is the root cause of the crisis," Sun Weidong noted.
"The ties between the two countries are growing closer. Not so long ago, we unveiled the first cross-border bridge and the first cross-border road bridge, built back to back," the Chinese diplomat stressed. "Besides, we can say that we cooperate on major projects in the fields of nuclear energy, aircraft construction, rocket engines, satellite navigation, infrastructure and other promising areas." "Payments in national currencies take place on a permanent basis so our relations are a good example of the highest level of mutual trust and the highest level of strategic cooperation," he added.
The diplomat was confident that the Chinese-Russian relationship would enter a new era under the guidance of the two countries’ leaders. "These relations will undoubtedly be stable and aimed at the future," he concluded.
