Moscow notes Moldova solidarizing with Kiev regime, senior diplomat says

Moldova is applying the EU’s anti-Russian sanctions in the banking sphere and with regard to the re-export of Russian goods, Director of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Second Department of CIS Countries Alexey Polishchuk said

MOSCOW, October 9. /TASS/. The Moldovan authorities have solidarized with the Kiev regime after Russia started its special military operation in Ukraine, Director of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Second Department of CIS Countries Alexey Polishchuk told TASS on Sunday.

"After the start of the special military operation, the Moldovan leadership solidarized with the Kiev regime. Moldova is applying the EU’s anti-Russian sanctions in the banking sphere and with regard to the re-export of Russian goods. EU and NATO structures have stepped up the military exploitation of the republic’s territory," he emphasized.

Moscow is concerned over Moldova’s ban on Russian news programs and films about the Soviet Union’s 1941-1945 Great Patriotic War against Nazi Germany, the senior diplomat said.

"Despite this, the Russian-Moldovan interaction continues mainly through diplomatic channels. We directly discuss existing problems and seek to build a constructive dialogue and hope for preserving the accumulated positive potential in our relations," he pointed out.

Russia favors a pragmatic and mutually beneficial dialogue with Moldova, the Russian high-ranking diplomat stressed.

"We are convinced that this meets the interests of the peoples of both countries, which are bound by the common history and close cultural ties. At the same time, we do not consider Chisinau’s Euro-integration course to be an obstacle for continuing our cooperation both on a bilateral basis and within multilateral formats, first of all, within the CIS," the senior diplomat said.
