Joining EU to mean high prices, loss of Russian market for Moldovan citizens — Medvedev

Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman wondered if common citizens of Moldova - Moldavians, Russians, Ukrainians - need Chisinau’s accession to the EU

MOSCOW, June 25. /TASS/. Residents of Moldova will get ‘exorbitant prices’ and complete loss of the Russian market for joining the EU, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said on his Telegram channel Saturday.

The politician wondered if common citizens of Moldova - Moldavians, Russians, Ukrainians - need Chisinau’s accession to the EU.

"They were not promised anything, except for ephemeral ‘europerspectives’ as a EU member candidate. Which means insanely expensive energy, complete loss of the Russian market for Moldovan vegetables, fruits and wine. And, of course, exorbitant prices in stores of a not at all rich Moldova (sorry, a new Greater Romania)," he said, answering a question from TASS.
