MOSCOW, March 2. /TASS/. Russia’s authorities thoroughly calculated the entire range of potential sanctions on the country, from lightest to toughest, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters in response to a TASS question.
"Moscow calculated various degrees of sanctions ranging from the lightest to the most severe," he pointed out.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov said earlier on Wednesday that "it was hard to predict the current scale and scope of sanctions on the Russian economy" but the authorities had weighed various mechanisms to support industries and "there is no panic."
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation based on a request from the heads of the Donbass republics. The Russian leader stressed that Moscow had no plans to occupy Ukrainian territories and the goal was to demilitarize and denazify the country. In response, the United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom and a number of other countries slapped sanctions on Russia, particularly targeting major companies and certain individuals.
