UAV overnight attack one of largest, has no clear targets — expert

According to Denis Fedutinov, the attack was carried out in ‘a broad coverage’ and the calculation was "to hit something"

MOSCOW, March 11. /TASS/. The overnight attack by Ukrainian drones on the Russian regions was one of the largest recently with a significant part targeting Moscow and having no clear targets, unmanned aviation expert Denis Fedutinov told TASS.

"It has been one of the most significant attacks by the Ukrainian army on the territory of Russia using unmanned aerial vehicles recently. The Moscow region was hit among others targeted by a significant number of kamikaze drones," he said.

He said that the available information about the attack gave him the feeling that the enemy had no specific military, government, industrial or infrastructural targets.

"Most likely, the work was carried out in, as they say, ‘a broad coverage,’ the expert explained. "This is especially true in the Moscow area, where, given the dense housing in Moscow and the Moscow Region, it seemed that the calculation was that they would hit something."

According to the Defense Ministry, 337 Ukrainian drones were shot down over the Russian regions overnight, including 91 over the Moscow Region. Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said that the air defense forces repelled the most extensive UAV attack on the capital. As a result of the attack in the Moscow region, 2 people were killed and more than 10 injured. Residential and other buildings were damaged, and several cars were destroyed. The Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case under the article "terrorist act".
