Netanyahu to hold meeting on situation regarding bus explosions

TEL AVIV, February 21. /TASS/. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will hold a meeting to assess the situation following the reports of explosions on several buses in the Tel Aviv suburb of Bat Yam, the PM’s office said in a statement.

"Netanyahu has been receiving ongoing updates from his Military Secretary on the IED [improvised explosive device] incidents in the Dan area [Tel Aviv and its suburbs] and will soon hold a security assessment," the statement said.

Earlier on Thursday, Israeli police reported a number of explosions and fires involving buses in a parking lot in the Tel Aviv suburb of Bat Yam, noting that no one was injured in the incidents.

The agency pointed out that "numerous police units are working at the scene" and "the circumstances of the incidents are being investigated." According to the Ynet news outlet, the possibility of a terrorist attack has not been ruled out.
