Three projectiles shot down above Russia’s Belgorod Region — governor

Rescue services and Belgorod Mayor Valentin Demidov are now on the site

BELGOROD, March 15. /TASS/. Russia’s air defenses intercepted aerial targets above southwestern Russia’s Belgorod Region on Tuesday night, shooting down three projectiles, Belgorod Region governor Vyacheslav Gladkov wrote on Telegram early on Wednesday.

"Three missiles were shot down above Belgorod and the Belgorod Region. The consequences are now being assessed. A fragment landed on a residential district of Belgorod. Damage was reported," the governor said.

Rescue services and Belgorod Mayor Valentin Demidov are now on the site.

"Fragments also inflicted certain damage to several households in the Belgorod Region. District administrative chief Vladimir Pertsev has also departed to the scene," the governor added.

Belgorod Mayor Valentin Demidov later wrote on Telegram that several houses and apartment blocks in the city sustained damage. Residents were offered temporary accommodation at a hotel.

"Most importantly, no injuries were reported by now. In most cases, windows were shattered, roofs were damaged, and a number of cars were damaged as well," Demidov said.
