Powerful explosion rocks China’s city of Zhangzhou — TV

No official information has yet been reported about casualties

SHANGHAI, May 24. /TASS/. A massive explosion rocked a street in China’s city of Zhangzhou on Tuesday night, the Chinese central television reported.

The cause of the blast wasn’t reported. Local news media said the explosion could have been inside a hotel or restaurant. At least six people suffered from the blast, preliminary data show.

Videos posted by users on local social networks show that one of the several-storey buildings is completely destroyed. The explosion shattered the windows of many nearby shops, and some of them sustained more serious damage.

No official information has yet been reported about casualties. Firefighters, police and rescuers are working on the scene.
