Russia’s Tver authorities say six people killed, 27 injured in fire at research facility

According to earlier reports, some people suffered injuries caused by fumes, while others received injuries after jumping out of windows to escape the fire

MOSCOW, April 21. /TASS/. Six people were killed and 27 more sustained injuries following a fire at the Central Research Institute of the Aerospace Defense Forces in the Russian city of Tver, the press service of the local administration announced in a statement.

"According to our operative data, 27 people were injured and six killed as a result of the fire," the statement said.

A source in the local emergencies service told TASS that at least seven people were reported to be killed in the fire at the facility in the city of Tver.

According to earlier reports, some people suffered injuries caused by fumes, while others received injuries after jumping out of windows to escape the fire.

The blaze reportedly erupted on a second floor of the building and then engulfed the area of about 1,000 square meters. According to preliminary reports, a short circuit failure was the cause behind the reported incident.
