Five law enforcement agents lightly wounded during operation to eradicate gang in Chechnya

GROZNY, January 20. /TASS/. Five members of law enforcement have sustained light wounds during a special operation that eradicated a criminal gang led by Aslan Byutukayev in Chechnya, Information and Press Minister of Chechnya Akhmed Dudayev told TASS.

"Five members of law enforcement have sustained light wounds," the interlocutor told TASS.

Earlier on Wednesday, Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov said six members of the Byutukayev’s gang, including its ringleader, were eliminated. Byutukayev had been an accomplice in the terrorist bomb attack at Moscow’s Domodedovo airport in 2011. Kadyrov said he had personally participated in planning the operation implemented by a police regiment. The identities of four eliminated militants have already been established.

The Chechen leader said that the gang had managed to escape and avoid confrontation twice. He reported the successful liquidation of the criminal terror group to Russian President Vladimir Putin personally.

In October 2016, the Chechen Interior Ministry announced a cash reward for information about the whereabouts of members and ringleaders of gangs operating in Chechnya, Ingushetia and Dagestan. A 5-million-ruble reward was promised for information on Byutukayev. All those wanted face criminal charges under article 208 of the Russian Criminal Code (organization of or participation in an illegal armed group).
