Over $278,000 donated to help families of Magnitogorsk victims

According to the latest data, the accident claimed the lives of 39 people

MOSCOW, January 3. /TASS/. Over 19.3 mln rubles (about $278,000) has been donated to the special account created to provide aid to the families of those killed or injured in the Magnitogorsk building collapse, the Chelyabinsk Region governor’s press service informed reporters on Thursday.

"The amount of funds contributed to the account aimed at aiding those affected has surpassed 19.3 mln rubles," the message informs.

A section of a ten-story apartment block collapsed in Magnitogorsk on December 31. According to the latest data, the accident claimed the lives of 39 people. Six people were injured, five of them, including two children, are in hospitals. A woman was discharged from a hospital in Magnitogorsk on January 2.

The search and rescue operation on recovering bodies trapped under the rubble finished on January 3. The Russian Investigative Committee views a household gas explosion as the main cause of the accident.
