Light aircraft makes rough landing in Moscow region, no victims reported

A light amphibian Korvet airplane made a rough landing in the south of the Moscow region, some 100 km away from Moscow

MOSCOW, August 1. /TASS/. A light amphibian Korvet [Corvette] airplane made a rough landing in the south of the Moscow region, some 100 km away from Moscow on Wednesday, a source at the emergency services told TASS.

"The initial reports we received said the light amphibian airplane had fallen in the area of the Drakino airfield," he explained. At the time this report went on wire, emergency officials were still clarifying whether or not anyone had been injured.

The press service of the central regional branch of the Ministry for Emergency Situations said the Korvet had crash-landed. "The two people who were aboard refused to go to hospital," it indicated.

A police source said the airplane had crashed because of a failure of one of its two engines.

The Korvet is a twin-engine parasol-winged flying boat with seating capacity for a pilot and two passengers. It also has a maximum takeoff weight of 675 kg and can travel to a distance of 450 km at 130 km per hour, climbing to a maximum altitude of 3,000 meters.

These airplanes are manufactured by the Gidrosamolyot company in Russia.

Drakino is a recreational park and airfield near the town of Serpukhov. It offers sightseeing flights to customers on a range of light airplanes and provides training courses for individuals seeking to become certified amateur pilots.
