International advanced-development territory regime may be applied to Arctic

General Director of the Corporation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic Nikolay Zapryagaev said that pilot sites should be selected in the border territories in the Far East, as there will be "not such high costs for border crossing, for capital investment"

MURMANSK, March 27. /TASS/. The international advanced-development territory may be extended to the Arctic Zone following example of the Far East. Pilot regions could be in the border territories, General Director of the Corporation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic Nikolay Zapryagaev told TASS at the International Arctic Forum held in Murmansk.

"The advanced-development territory is our universal regime, and an international advanced-development territory will attract foreign participants to technological networks. I would start with pilot regions in the border territories for now - to see how it goes," he said.

According to him, pilot sites should be selected in the border territories in the Far East, as there will be "not such high costs for border crossing, for capital investment."

"Therefore, for now, we will focus on several pilot sites in the Far East, and we'll see how it goes," he added.
