HANOI, March 21. /TASS/. Products of the Russian truck maker Kamaz successfully compete with foreign brands in the Vietnamese market, CEO Sergey Kogogin told TASS.
"We have a long-standing presence in Vietnam; [we] supplied more than 30,000 vehicles there. We are working actively with the governmental sector and continue to develop this line," the chief executive said. An efficient service chain has been deployed in Vietnam, which consists of eleven large Kamaz service centers. A large spare parts warehouse was created in Ho Chi Minh City, he added.
The Russian automaker faces significant competition, Kogogin said. "There is a lot of US, European vehicles, and the Chinese automotive sector has a rather strong representation. As regards fuel consumption, we are definitely at the same level with European brands; nevertheless, it is truly difficult to compete with our traditional model line we have supplied there. The main issue now is to bring K5 family vehicles to the Vietnam’s market," he noted.
K5 long-haul trucks are fuel-efficient, have improved aerodynamics and may experience demand in the Vietnamese market, Kogogin said.
