Tokyo, Moscow agree upon salmon catch quotas

Payments from Japan’s side will be similar to 2024, from 180 to 313 mln yen ($1.2-2.1 mln)

TOKYO, March 13. /TASS/. Representatives of Russia and Japan agreed upon quotas for salmon catch by Japanese fishermen in the 200-mile exclusive economic zone of Japan for 2025, the Japan’s Fisheries Agency said.

The parties agreed upon the catch quota for Japanese fishermen in the amount of 2,050 metric tons in 2025 in conclusion of consultations held from March 10 to 13, the agency said. Plenty of fish coming there from Russian rivers is living in these waters. Payments from Japan’s side will be similar to 2024, from 180 to 313 mln yen ($1.2-2.1 mln).

Consultations on salmon quotas within the 200-mile exclusive economic zone of Russia in 2025 continue, the agency added. Russia and Japan hold annual consultations to agree upon seafood catch quotas.
