MOSCOW, March 11. /TASS/. The airports of Moscow and surrounding areas are back to normal operation on Tuesday after drone attacks, there have been no large crowds of passengers, the Russian Transport Ministry reported.
"All airports are currently operating in their usual mode, large crowds of departing passengers have been avoided. Airports are gradually returning to their usual rhythm," the ministry said following a meeting chaired by Deputy Transport Minister Vladimir Poteshkin with the participation of the Rosaviatsia civil aviation authority, airlines, and airports.
Poteshkin called on airlines to step up the work of call centers and promptly inform passengers about schedule changes, as well as assist in returning and reissuing tickets if a passenger had to miss a flight due to valid reasons.
Today, 83 aircraft landed at alternative airports during the temporary restrictions on the arrival and departure of aircraft at Russian airports introduced this morning.
About restrictions on airport operations
Earlier it was reported that at 04:24 a.m. Moscow time, restrictions were introduced on the operation of Zhukovsky airport, at 04:40 a.m. Moscow time - on the operation of the Nizhny Novgorod Strigino airport, as well as Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo and Vnukovo and on the operation of Yaroslavl Tunoshna airport at 05:15 a.m. Moscow time.
On Tuesday, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin wrote in his Telegram channel that the air defense forces repelled the most extensive attack of enemy unmanned aerial vehicles on Moscow. In total, 74 drones were shot down while approaching the capital.
Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that air defense forces shot down 337 Ukrainian drones over Russian regions overnight, 91 of which were destroyed over the Moscow region.
