HAVANA, December 26. /TASS/. Russia’s Mir cards are accepted across Cuba now, Russian Ambassador to the Republic of Cuba Viktor Coronelli said, adding that the introduction of the card helped attract more tourists to the island.

"At the moment, the cards of the Mir payment system are accepted on the whole territory of Cuba," he said in an interview with the Cuban Opciones weekly publication focusing on finance, commerce and tourism. "Payments [with Mir cards] are accepted in hotels where Russian tourists stay, as well as in other places related to foreign tourism. The introduction of the Mir card [in Cuba] is a positive factor that allowed attracting more flows of tourists from Russia," the diplomat noted.

In the tourism sector, "there are several joint projects at various stages of development," he added. "Despite the fact that it is too early to speak about specific results, I am confident that Cuba has much to offer both to businessmen and to tourists from our country," Coronelli stressed.
