Baltic countries’ disconnection from BRELL system not affecting Kaliningrad Region

The drill for independent disconnection of the region from the BRELL took place in September and was not noticed by residents, Alexey Besprozvannykh said

KALININGRAD, December 12. /TASS/. Final disconnection of Baltic countries from the united energy system of Belarus, Russia, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania (BRELL) slated for February 8 will not affect the stability and reliability of power supplies in the Kaliningrad Region, Governor Alexey Besprozvannykh said during a regional Q&A session.

"Speaking about the energy system, we were actually preparing for that and new power plants were built in the region owing to decisions of the Russian President, and the CHP-2 plant is functioning," the governor said.

The drill for independent disconnection of the region from the BRELL took place in September and was not noticed by residents, the official said, "I think you will not notice [the disconnection] in February," the governor noted, adding that the region is ready for disconnection of Baltic states.
