Alparslan Bayraktar informed earlier about plans to commission the first power-generating unit of the Akkuyu NPP in 2025

ISTANBUL, November 22. /TASS/. The first reactor of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant (NPP) being built by Russia’s Rosatom in Turkey is planned for commissioning in the near time, Energy Minister of Turkey Alparslan Bayraktar said.

"Four reactors are now being built in our country with the total capacity of 4,800 MW. We plan to commission the first power generating unit of the Akkuyu NPP in the near time and all the four of them by the end of 2028," the minister said when speaking at the energy forum in Istanbul.

Bayraktar informed earlier about plans to commission the first power-generating unit of the Akkuyu NPP in 2025.

Construction of four reactors of the nuclear power plant is underway concurrently in line with all national and international safety standards, President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan said earlier at the energy forum in Istanbul. The power plant when commissioned in full will cover 10% of Turkey’s needs for electric power, the leader of Turkey said.
