Zarubezhneft innovates drilling techniques to get at thermomineral water in Kamchatka

"Private investment is actively flowing into the sector," the region's governor Vladimir Solodov noted

PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, November 20. /TASS/. The Russian company Zarubezhneft is innovating drilling technology that makes it easier to extract thermomineral water in Kamchatka, the governor of Russia’s easternmost region Vladimir Solodov told TASS.

"Private investment is actively flowing into the sector. In particular, one of the leading players in the mineral production market, Zarubezhneft, is working on drilling technology to get at thermomineral water in Kamchatka," he said when speaking about energy projects in Kamchatka.

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said in 2023 that Russia was planning to build new geothermal stations in Kamchatka. RusHydro has also previously talked about the potential of geothermal power as a source of energy. The company, in collaboration with Zarubezhneft, is looking at developing a new geothermal station, which would eliminate the need for fossil fuels.
