Bank of Russia suggests expanding cyberfraud risk communication channels

The regulator recommends banks to develop scenarios for conversations of the staff with clients when suspicions arise that an individual is influenced by fraudsters and may lose money

MOSCOW, March 13. /TASS/. The Bank of Russia has updated methodological recommendations to banks on warning clients against risk of theft of their own and borrowed funds by criminals and against consequences of being involved in cash-dropping.

The document expands the list of channels and activities to be used when communicating with people.

"The regulator recommends banks to develop scenarios for conversations of the staff with clients when suspicions arise that an individual is influenced by fraudsters and may lose money. Furthermore, banks are recommended to provide customers with services identifying suspicious calls and antiviral programs, including the ones built into mobile apps of credit institutions, which will help to guard individuals against thefts," the Central Bank said.

Recommendations will come into force from July 25, 2024.
