Lux Express to launch bus service from St. Petersburg to Helsinki on December 13

From December 14 to January 14, six out of eight checkpoints on the Finnish-Russian border will be closed, cargo traffic through Vainikkala station will continue, the statement says

ST. PETERSBURG, December 12. /TASS/. Estonian bus company Lux Express will launch bus service from St. Petersburg to Helsinki on December 13 at 11:30 p.m. local time, Natalya Arefieva, General Director of Eurolines JSC, Russia’s representative office for the Lux Express Group, told TASS.

"The first Lux Express bus trip from St. Petersburg to Helsinki is on December 13, 2023 at 11:30 p.m. (local time) (8:30 p.m. GMT) and from Helsinki to St. Petersburg on December 13, 2023 at 9:30 p.m. (Finnish local time) (6:30 p.m. GMT)," she said.

The Finnish government decided to open the Vaalimaa and Niirala checkpoints on the border with Russia from midnight on December 14 to January 14, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Finland reported.

From December 14 to January 14, six out of eight checkpoints on the Finnish-Russian border will be closed, cargo traffic through Vainikkala station will continue, the statement clarifies.

As the Yle TV and radio channel reported citing Prime Minister of Finland Petteri Orpo, the Finnish government is closely monitoring the development of the situation on the border with Russia and will decide on the advisability of opening border checkpoints no later than next Wednesday, December 13.
