Russian Prime Minister urges further formation of EAEU common energy markets

Mikhail Mishustin drew attention to the fact that Russia has experience in the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes and is ready to "share best practices and help partners"

ALMA-ATA, February 3. /TASS/. The countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) should continue working on the development of common energy markets, while keeping the climate agenda in mind, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in an expanded format on Friday.

"I find it necessary to continue the formation of common energy markets while simultaneously promoting a green climate agenda," the Prime Minister said. He drew attention to the fact that Russia has experience in the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes and is ready to "share best practices and help partners."

Mishustin noted that the EAEU member countries, like the whole world, are facing the negative consequences of climate change.

"It is very important to join forces and harmonize our approaches to carbon regulation and climate projects financing," he stressed.

Mishustin urged colleagues to "speed up the spread of modern low-carbon technologies."

"We need it for sustainable economic growth and the well-being of our citizens," the Prime Minister concluded.

The member-states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) are Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
