Coal carriage over Eastern Range expected to hit 105.7 mln metric tons — Russian Railways

The throughput capacity of the Eastern Range increased as of 2022 year-end will be used to export coal products, company's Deputy CEO says

MOSCOW, January 26. /TASS/. Coal transportation over the Eastern Range [Baikal-Amur and Trans-Siberian Railways - TASS] is expected to stand at 105.7 mln metric tons in 2023, Deputy CEO of Russian Railways Aleksey Shilo told reporters.

"Regarding coal, we plan to carry 105.7 mln metric tons [in 2023] over the Eastern Range," Shilo said.

The throughput capacity of the Eastern Range increased as of 2022 year-end will be used to export coal products, he noted. Carriage forecasts also comprise the replenishment in carriage of 800,000 metric tons of coal not exported because of three additional pairs of container trains in late 2022. Russian Railways has already made the agreement on guaranteed coal exports with all regions covered by the assignment of the government.
